Welcome Ana Pagnan
from Santa Cruz do Rio Pardo, Brazil
![]() Ana Ligia Pagnan |
Ana is our 16 yr old Brazilian exchange student who arrived in Calgary a couple of weeks ago for her year long adventure. Ana will turn 17 on January 8. She hails from the Rotary Club of Santa Cruz do Rio Pardo, in the same town as our inbound student from 2004-5, Luisa de Silva. It is a small city in the state of Sao Paulo of approximately 45,000 citizens. Ana comes to us from a family of 4, her parents and younger sister. Her mother owns a butchery and her father manages a plant that produces, among other things, fruit juices. She is already fluent in English and in Spanish as well as her native Portuguese. On arrival, she took up residence with Heinrich and Ursula Heinz, who report Ana has already been very busy with a variety of activities. She has been out hiking with the Partners, completed her ESL testing for school and completed registration for next months start at her host school Bishop Grandin High. Ana moves to her first host family before school starts. Complimenting her strong academic standing, Ana is an enthusiastic athlete, particularly enjoying handball and volleyball.
