Nick Patterson arrived in Calgary on February 25th from Newcastle, Australia. He is 18 years old, attending grade 12 at Henry Wise Wood School.

He has been hosted by Patrick and Theresa Lor, Heinrich and Ursula Heinz and is currently with Janet and Brian Wright.

In Newcastle, Nick lives with his parents and two brothers - 21 and 16 years of age. He plays hockey and is involved in many outdoor activities including sand boarding and quad riding. His academic record is impressive and he has been accepted into the Mining Engineering program at Newcastle University.

Nick is very outgoing and will try anything at least once. He has made good use of COP for biking and skiing and enjoys spending time in the mountains.

He is very keen to get some more skiing in before he goes home in January!

Laszlo Nedeczky arrived in Calgary in August from Komarom, Hungary. He is 17 years old, attending grade 11 at Bishop Grandin High School. He is currently staying with Paul and Kathleen Trotter, parents of Liz Trotter, an outbound student from our club staying in Estonia.

Laszlo has two brothers and a sister, all of whom are quite a bit older than he. His parents are both Agrarian Engineers. His favourite sport is basketball; he plays on a junior first league team, practising five times per week and competing in games on weekends. Laszlo also does very well at school – he is in the top 10% of his class.

Laszlo’s English is very good and he has an excellent sense of humour. He is very easy to get along with and is keen to experience new things in Canada. He likes skiing and is looking forward to the cooler weather and snow.
